Case Study | Major Global Retailer

One of the worlds largest retailers employing nearly 500,000 people in over 3000 retail outlets globally.

With increased growth available across Central Europe our client sought to develop a Central European Supply Chain strategy for its clothing merchandise sourced from South East Asia. Logistics Solutions Europe Ltd was selected to manage the Supply Chain Stream of this strategy.

Following a review of the current operations in Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia a strategy for a centralised Supply Chain solution for imported clothing merchandise was agreed. During an intensive 9 month period a new site was located in Slovakia and a 30,000 square metre purpose built Distribution Centre was constructed. During the same period the proposed operation was tendered and subsequently awarded to a major 3PL.

Logistics Solutions Europe project managed the development and implementation of the new centralised distribution centre which was opened in September 2006, as a result of which the client has been able to significantly increase its market share whilst reducing its cost base.
