Case Study | Major Retailer Central Europe
Following a period of significant growth this major retailer embarked upon a strategy to centralise its Central European operations for General merchandise imported from Asia. Logistics Solutions Europe project managed the development, construction and implementation of a major new warehouse facility (60,000 square metres) within Central Europe. LSE then led the outsourcing of the operation to a global 3PL supplier.
Within a tight timescale of 6 months the strategy was developed from conceptual design into physical operation and today the Distribution Centre delivers General Merchandise throughout Central Europe.
As a result of this centralisation strategy our client has been able to achieve substantial cost reductions as a result of: reduced inventory levels, increased consolidation at origin, increased DC efficiency and improved fleet utilisation.
Logistics Solutions Europe led the project management of the Supply Chain stream of this transition resulting in the new DC being opened and fully operation in August 2007.
